Pedzi Flores-Girigori

Strategic Specialist and Program Manager for Water, Climate and Nature, Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature of Curaçao

Pedzi was born and raised in Curacao. She holds a Master of Science degree in Physics from the University of Utrecht, with a specialization in Astrophysics and Subatomic Physics. She furthermore holds a degree as Operational Meteorologist from the Royal Netherlands Airforce.

She started her professional career at the age of 23 in 2008, as a junior meteorologist at the Meteorological Department of Curacao. She has held several positions within the organization, and served as Chief Operations Officer up until September 2025. She is currently a Strategic Specialist and Program Manager for Water, Climate and Nature at the Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature.

Her passion lies in bridging the gap between policy makers and scientists, having worked and still working in both arenas. Her expertise lies in water, disaster management, climate impact and adaptation and the sustainable development goals. 

She has been internationally active in different regional working groups of the WMO and the UNESCO IOCARIBE, where she held the position of Vice chair of the IOCARIBE in 2011-2013. She furthermore participates in different working groups nationally on the topics of the sustainable development goals and the Agenda 2030, climate change and water. She is the Secretary of the Curacao Integrated Water Commission, and coordinates the development of the National Adaptation Strategy for Curacao.

Pedzi is also a wife and a mother of a son and a daughter.
